7:20 pm: Changing to health care. Ask for raise of hand as to who would abolish private insurance for a government program. Only a few raised their hands -- Warren and the guy on the far left among them.
Another question for Warren, she's getting a lot of time. She wants Medicare for All. (I don't -- whatever happened to giving everyone the same coverage as members of Congress?)
Beto: I hate when candidates use a single, specific person none of us know to make a point. Pointless. Tall guy on the left jumps on him. Short bald guy who sounds like mediator jumps in on both.
Gabbard: Makes sense, stop talking about one bill over the other and talk about the objective. She supports Medicare for All.
Booker: Supports Medicare for All, brings up race again. He's really playing for the African-American vote.
Julian Castro: Reproductive justice, not just reproductive freedom. Talks about rights of transgers. Believes in right to have an abortion. Would appoint judges to federal bench who appreciate Roe v. Wade.
Warren: It's not enough to rely on courts to protect the right. Roe v Wade should be made federal law.
Opioid question: Booker would jail the Pharma companies. Beto answered by talking about the incarceration rate especially of drug offenders. Then said he'd hold Pharma accountable.
First commerical: Who's making their presence known? I like Beto and Castro so far -- I'm disappointed that Warren sounds programmed.
Immigration up next. Julian Castro has a good response. Would repeal Section 1325. Cheers. He rolls his "r"s perfectly. Then Booker answers, also shows off some Spanish. Booker seems like he's trying too hard. He doesn't offer a solution, just says current policies should end.
Tall guy on the left blames corporations and the 1% for our immigration problem.
Beto vs Castro: YEA Julian! Beto: Fail.
Castro wipes the floor with Beto on Section 1325. Beto wants to help those who are seeking asylum. Castro wants to protect all who cross the border.
Klobuchar also falls on her face. She wants to uphold "the law." She turns the question to one about the economy. Guy who is second on the left agrees with Castro -- he's very passionate. Booker talks about our over-criminalization of social problems. He gave a good response.
Female NBC host says she hasn't heard an answer to what they would do on day one about immigration. False, Julian Castro said on day one he'd repeal every immigration order issued by Donald Trump.
7:50 pm: Who is making the biggest splash? In my view: Julian Castro. Klobuchar looks like a goody-two shoes, I'm not responding well to her. Warren has to learn to loosen up connect individually, using ordinary words. Booker is also a little too stiff. Beto doesn't seem spontaneous or able to adapt to sudden shifts in topics. I never heard of Tulsi Gabbard before today and I'm already tired of her touting her accomplishments.
