Some marmaluke tried to pin a 20 grand f*ck-up on my arse...after a harrowing few moments scouring the old sent file, I've been vindicated by the written record.  Whew!

Lucky it wasn't a phone call he said/he said deal, customer always wins those.

But of course some people insist "I need it right now, can't wait 30 seconds!"...then the best I can do is make 'em read the number back to me.

But Drum just thinks the story is made of whole cloth. He's telling us that it is a transparent lie that has no credibility. Isn't he engaging in an even worse libel than the one he's imputing to Reid? Mr. Drum, after all, doesn't even say that he has a credible source alleging that Reid is lying. He's just attacking Reid with nothing but his opinion to back him up.

I live in a tiny "city" 3.5 miles in circumference that has proudly-like-a-peacock (read: stupidly) banished flouridation from the water district--a water system built on wells, so the stuff always stinks like sulfur--and refuses to be incorporated into the much larger city next door. I mean, gosh, why would anybody want to be part of a larger city system that forces flouridation on our unsuspecting kids?? Or costs its customers 50% less in sewage rates? That would be communistic!! And we've been perfectly happy to pay a company 1000 miles away in Arizona for our yard waste and recycling pick up! Leave us alone, we're mountain men and can take care of our own, you socialist cabal of the Northwest! We'll just stick with our little selves and resist those flouridation liberals...we like the 19th century just fine the way it is.

In response to the ad about the husband who lost his job after Bain parasitically destroyed the successful company at which he was working, which led to a loss of health insurance for his family, and which (allegedly) led to his wife's cancer not being diagnosed until it was too late to save her, Team Romney says...

If that family had lived in Massachusetts, it [the wife's illness] would have been covered by the former governor's universal health care law. "To that point, if people had been in Massachusetts, under Governor Romney's health care plan, they would have had health care," Andrea Saul, Romney's campaign press secretary, said during an appearance on Fox News.

Neither.  The Republicans are liars - we all know that.  But the fact that the Dems and the Obama campaign have been caught in so many blatant lies should tell any rational thinking person, that neither can be trusted and that none of the ads put out should be believed.  Of course, when it comes to these kinds of things, you obviously have lost the "rational" and "thinking" parts of yoru brain, and we all know you will bend into a pretzel to continue to spout the party line - even in the face of things called "facts".  Instead of touting what a second Obama term would bring, you have to defend the sleazy lies that are campaign ads, and you know what happens when you lie down with dogs....

Not sure how I am a "Romney-bot", since I am not voting for him, but if makes you feel better in your little fantasy world to think that, then go ahead.

Not sure why Obama isn't touting his glorious accomplishments and talking about Romney's backing of the Ryan tax plan - which IS horrendous, but resorting to this kind of stuff is only going to make the Dems appear weak - when you have weak accomplishments and no plan, throw mud.

by jbindc on Thu Jul 12, 2012 at 08:52:10 AM EST

I'm so, so tired of talking points and half truths - from both sides. Between the huge distortions both sides are telling about "outsourcing" and "offshoring", to the tax cut extension, to the healh "care" reform bill, to Hugo Chavez, to the battle over who's "lying" about the stimulus, to Ann Romney's horse and the supposed "huge" tax deduction, to Solyndra, etc.

by jbindc on Mon Jul 23, 2012 at 04:07:58 PM EST

But I find this story more troubling.

"More than a decade has passed since Mitt Romney presided over the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, but the archival records from those games that were donated to the University of Utah to provide an unprecedented level of transparency about the historic event, remain off limits to the public. And some of the documents that may have shed the most light on Romney's stewardship of the Games were likely destroyed by Salt Lake Olympic officials, ABC News has learned.

The archivists involved in preparing the documents for public review told ABC News that financial documents, contracts, appointment calendars, emails and correspondence are likely not included in the 1,100 boxes of Olympic records, and will not be part of the collection that will ultimately be made public."

Not the stuff of gold, but the search feature sucks at TL, they are disses and recent.  But they do back my original contention that she's not a Romneybot.

And not sure if another comment was for me, but I am disgusted with both, but I would rather have Obama running the country.  But unlike many, that doesn't mean I have to sing his praises.

of the Romney campaign's response to the ad, not that the real problem was that these people didn't live in Massachusetts where they could have had the benefit of Romneycare, don't you think?

So, while the spokesperson did claim that the ad was more truthy than truth - the woman didn't die for a couple years after her husband lost his job, and she had her own insurance during part of that time - the only thing people took away from the response was the invocation of the benefits of Romneycare, which everyone and his grandmother knows was the precursor to Obamacare.

I'm no Obama fan, but taken on his own, Romney is about as politically clumsy and clueless as any candidate I've seen for a while; I truly don't know how he expects to prevail when he can't even get out of his own way.

Somewhere in here is probably a joke - in very poor taste - that has to do with special underwear and the condition of the anatomical part Romney keeps stepping on.

just says what his audience wants to hear. For example, when attacking administration commitments to clean energy that reduce U.S. dependence on oil and fight climate change:

"In place of real energy, Obama has focused on an imaginary world where government-subsidized windmills and solar panels could power the economy."

Then yesterday in Iowa, where over 200 businesses and 6700 jobs rely on government support of wind energy production:

"We have got to take advantage of America's extraordinary energy resources: coal, oil, gas, nuclear, renewables, wind, solar, ethanol, you name it. We've gotta take advantage of all of them."

As Ian Anderson might have described his act:

But you balance your world on the tip of your nose
You're a sea lion with a ball at the carnival.

less than truthful?  I'm shocked jb, shocked!

Gotta admit though, it's a damn good hit piece, if that's your cup of tea.  The spirit of the ad rings true...if not Mitt Romney, a Mitt Romney clone...the Mitt Romney way, if you will.  No disputing that.

Citizens United may end up helping Brand D more than Brand R, who woulda thunk it?  Still very bad for the people and for representative democracy of course...but a homerun for media conglomerates, no discounts for airtime for super pac's. Cha-ching!

Rush Limbaugh apparently did not warm to the Romney volley calling it "a goldmine for Obama." And, a guy named Erick Erickson, of Red State, was not so keen on the defense either, saying the campaign "sabotaged itself with a mind numbingly bit of spin that may mark the day the Romney campaign died." Clearly, this truth telling by campaign staff must be curtailed or the next thing we know some campaign staffer will state that Romney should release additional tax returns because it makes him look like he is hiding something. If telling the truth is too difficult for staff, they may just resort to that ethic of 'lying for the Lord.'

Also, anybody know what time the match starts? I need PDT, not GMT. :-)

    Thanking you in advance.

She's had a couple of knee surgeries, both of which had me holding my breath. Thankfully, she recovered nicely and does not appear to have any lingering problems with her knees.

She is a fierce player. I like that in an athlete.

Rapinoe got mad game...fierce is the word, you said it.  Ball of hustle all over the pitch.  Great passer.

If I was picking sides in the schoolyard she'd be my number one pick, she does it all.
