It's another beautiful day in Colorado.

    I got to open the windows for the first time in months this morning. The fresh air feels wonderful.

    Of course that led to: Gees, the window frames are filthy..better wash them. So are the windows...wash those too. Now I can see how overgrown the rose garden has gotten..do some gardening. Now it's after 2 and I'm having lunch. And sunday is almost gone. Have lunch, finish laundry, take dogs to the lake for an hour or two so I can watch Dexter in peace later.

    here, too, at 82 and low humidity.  Back from a bike ride around the island until tennis later this afternoon.  The beautiful scenes of  Colorado bring back memories of a trip from Laramie (anniversary visit-- Matthew Shepard's murder, Oct 12, 1998) to Vail on the back roads just prior to their seasonal closing.  The incredible  natural beauty helped wash away the thoughts of the inhuman ugliness

    ...that the media diva's dropped the Gators from #7 all the way down to #14.  I figured they'd keep them in the Top 10.  

    How about those Dawgs going down to LA and beating USC?  U-Dub baby!  No USC, no Texas, no PSU in the Top 25.

    more than one place by AP?  Shouldn't Ohio State have won by more than they did this week? Shouldn't the Padres have protected their lead in NL West?

    a) No.  They had to scramble to beat Indiana(!).  They have a one dimensional offense and no defense which is going to hurt them next three weeks (home games against MSU and Iowa coming off a bye week and on the road at Happy Valley)--and they have to face real Big 10 defenses now too.  We'll see just how durable Shoelaces is.
    b) Yes, if they were actually as good as their ranking.  
    c) Yes.  But, at least they battled to the bitter end.

    ..on HuffPo. I love our Sza-Sza-Gabor of the lefty blogosphere. But what a snake-pit of crap you need to go through to actually post there. It's worse than talkingpointmemo.com.

    Click "post a comment" and you get a "choice" of several portals through which you may identify yourself. I chose my google ID. Entered my info, but the response was I couldn't post because I "already existed." If that doesn't about sum it all up.

    Now Howard Feinman is on Arianna's payroll.

    Has anyone here ever posted at the HuffPo thing?

    HuffiPo's among the high profile sites that has made web hits-multiplying crapola so overwhelming, I just don't visit as often.

    Has anyone here ever posted at the HuffPo thing?

    I was tempted; I had some very strong opinions about the Worst Celeb Pants In the Bum Crack slideshow but then reason, personal dignity and basic human decency helped me come to my senses.

    ... does anyone knowq if there's a website or similar information source that has a run-down of the various coding stunts and gimmicks that websites can use to boost their apparent readership without actually getting more authentic reader clicks and reader time?  As near as I can tell, some of these coding adjustments can seriously hamper the web viewing experience, and it would be great to be able to go to one source to determine if a problem is the fault of dodgey browser software or if its the result of greedy/sneaky website bloat.

    OK, OK, so she's nuts, but her political strategy has some merit:

    "The Republicans have lost their standard, they've lost their principle," she tells Ashjian. "Really that's why the machine in the Republican Party is fighting against me.... They have never really gone along with lower taxes and less government regulation."

    We need to work from within," she tells Ashjian. "And we have We've actually taken over the Washoe County Republican Party."

    "The only thing that's different between you and I is I guess I was pragmatic enough to know because of other battles [that Angle has been involved in] that third parties can't get traction," Angle told Ashjian. "So I said all right, I'll work with it. Just show me what the rules are, and I'll work with. And the rules are there are Democrats, you got Republicans. And so what I set about [was] bringing myself up within that Republican rank."

    Angle is also intensely aware of the difference between a "real" outsider like her, Ken Buck, and Joe Wilson, and an establishmentarian who has adopted the insurgent mantle.

    ""There may be five of six of us," he says, listing the Tea Party candidates. "Possibly Marco Rubio is real, but that's a stretch for me."

    No way Rubio is a genuine teabagger. You can't get yourself elected Speaker that way.
