Trump Postpones VP Announcement

Donald Trump has postponed the announcement of his Vice Presidential running mate. He attributed the postponement to the attacks in Nice. I don't buy it.

The clock is ticking for Mr. Thump. The Republican convention begins Monday in Cleveland. Is anyone else a little unsettled about reports that the finalists are being chosen by Trump's children? What do they know about running a country? I'd feel better if he picked George -- the older guy who advises him on the apprentice. He seems smart and even tempered.

Newt did a have a funny line though: In an interview yesterday, he said he told Thump the choice was between having "two pirates on the ticket or a pirate and a relatively stable, more normal person." Which did Newt think he was?

Trump also told Fox News he would ask Congress for a Declaration of War against ISIS.

is all over this nonsense on twitter. The Indiana paper had the front page news as Pence being the VP. I know that by noon Pence has to declare whether he's running for reelection.

As for the Trump kids, I think they are more qualified than their dad to run the country. Who isn't?

Of course the Nice attacks are all about the Donald, 'forcing' him to postpone his announcement. there is talk that things are not going as well in the rules committee as he had wanted. I would not put it past him to pull he rug out from under Pence.

sure wants American Muslims to walk the plank.
"Every person here who is of a Muslim background" should be tested to determine whether he or she believes in Shariah, a legal code based on the Quran and other Islamic scriptures.

If they do, he said, they should be deported -- even if they're U.S. citizens. Gingrich added that anyone who simply visits any website "favoring ISIS or al Qaeda or other terrorist groups" should be guilty of a felony, "and they should go to jail."

if he focused on "Jihad" rather than Sharia Law.  There are four main schools of Sharia Law.  They cover all aspects of personal behavior and many strictures are quite benign.  The real problem that deals with relations with non Muslims is the meaning of Jihad.  Is it just a personal struggle to be good or does it mean a struggle against the Kafir? I could see a bit of logic in posing the question "What does Jihad mean to you?" as a loyalty oath type of test for citizenship.  But why should one believe the answers?

still makes no sense, you are asking people to interpret their own religious belief, and then judging them on it. There are plenty of Christian Citizens who advocate for the murder of Gays and abortion providers and other terrorist activities, should we question every Christian on this issue?

I agree that ascribing what looks like overwhelming incompetence to actual incompetence rather than to a conspiracy theory that Trump is a Democratic shill is more likely.

It will take getting used to, because even the most optimistic liberals never saw this degree of political incompetence coming.
