How short-sighted are artists, Hollywood and the recording industry, that they restrict the posting of videos of past live performances? In most cases, the artist isn't selling videos of these performances, so what is it costing them? Don't they realize that everyone watching and enjoying a past concert performance on You Tube is a potential buyer of albums the artist is selling? And that a viewer who likes a past live performance is more likely to buy the artist's current work, or the album with the song featured in the concert video?

narrative to drive traffic, but today's numbers continue the trend since the final debate and all the movement has been back to Obama. He's still looking at 303 EV with Romney either static or losing losing ground in every close state the last 7 days.

The RCP average is closer in Florida than it is in either Ohio or Wisconsin. It was a lost week for Romney and he's running out of time.

is pretty humorous. Republicans hate factual evidence. Something you will likely see soon is a poll out of Ohio showing Romney with a lead.
Why?
Late last week Nate said only one time in the last three presidential elections (that's 1 out of 150) has a candidate won a state without having at least one poll showing him in the lead. The only way to shut Nate up on this is pay a polling outfit to give Romney a lead one time.
They will try to create their momentum in Ohio meme that way since their Intrade momentum headline attempt after the last debate was quickly reversed.
Just the fact that Nate Silver is known by just one name, "Nate", in political and media circles is the GOP's worst nightmare.

stealing the election from Obama? Just read that he said on Meet the Press that he is certain Romney will win Ohio. Every poll shows Obama ahead by 4 points and Romney has never been ahead in Ohio.

I saw the appearance. He didn't say that initially. Gregory kept pushing him. And he finally said it sort of under his breath. Didn't look conspiratorial. And I'm a tinfoil hatter from way back.

And, though it's true no poll has shown Romney ahead in Ohio, there have been a number of polls that show it closer than 4 points. Several in the last week put Obama's lead at 2 points. And one released today had them tied at 49/49. And there was another one showimg a tie earlier in the week.

Never good to be that close anywhere when the national trend is moving away from you.

now out, and relatives there say it's a reliable outfit, shows a tie. Yikes.

Does anyone know more about this outfit and poll? Sometimes, the local polls are cr*p, but sometimes, they're better than polling by national drive-bys who don't know the game down on the ground.

And Minnesota now is narrowing and a toss-up? C'mon. Some of that news seems based on Obama (but Romney followed) making big tv ad buys in the Twin Cities. Well, duh, tv markets do not follow state borders, and that's the way to reach a wide swath of western Wisconsinites.

They're a worrisome group, of course, as they're Vikings fans so are not to be trusted.

Obama +4 51-47

Their poll 8 days ago had Obama at +1 at 49-48

evacuation order. I am choosing to stay put. My closest relatives are in SC and all my best friends are in OH. I am not about to start driving to either place right now.
I don't want to go to a shelter because I have two dogs and one of them has a broken leg. We just spent 5k on surgery for him and he is not allowed to walk more than a few feet for the next few weeks. He is too heavy for me to carry around and I am not about to jeopardize his leg/health by draging him to some unfamiliar place where I may not be able to keep him calm and confined.
I am really hoping this does not turn out to be as bad as they are predicting, for myself and for everyoneelse who is in the storm's path.

out okay for you, vml. Do you have a second floor to your house or an attic that you can scramble up to if the floods hit your neighborhood?

Staying put seems like a dangerous choice. So, please, update us as soon as you can so that we know if you come through the storm in okay shape.

I was reading at another site about why people should evacuate. It is pretty compelling.

The info did say that if you refuse to evacuate, you should write your name and social security number on your arm in permanent marker. That way, if you don't survive, rescue workers can easily identify your body.

I am not telling you this to be a smart-@ss. I honestly believe it is a good thing to do. One of the lessons learned from Katrina is how hard it can be to identify bodies, and what a strain it is on families to not know what happened to a loved one.

I so hope you come out of this okay.

It makes sense to write your name and SSN on your body, but I would probably do it on my torso since there is always the possibilty of losing an arm.

I am taking the risk of staying home because my apartment is on the second floor and we are pretty high off the ground. So I feel pretty safe from flooding issues. On the extremely low probability of our apartment getting flooded, I will head up to one of the higher floors and camp out there. Also, our building is very solidly built and with the winds expected to be 75+mph, I feel more secure here than in a structure I am unfamiliar with. If I had even the slightest concern about either issue, I would leave. I would not risk our lives for my pup's leg, as sh!tty as that sounds.

That would be my main concern, along with falling trees/powerlines.

Windows are all secured and we have underground utilities so no powerlines close enough to the building to be an issue.

BTW, I had a bizarre dream a week ago that I was being assaulted in a park in the early morning hours and the whole time, I kept telling myself that if I could just fight a little while longer you would be out walking Ms Dot and the two of you would come to my rescue. And then the two of you came walking by and Dot ran to me but you called her back and you told her that I was a big girl and could handle myself without any help!!

And if I did, Ms Dot would have ignored me. She took her duty to protect against creeps on the street seriously :) She didn't do it often, but she was always right when she would step in front of me, freeze and let out a scary LOW growl, hackles and all.
Part of me wishes I was there. Weird, I know, but I've always been fascinated by weather events. Perhaps it's the California girl in me that grew up without them, well aside from floods, mudslides, earthquakes and wildfires, lol!~
Roxy! sends healing wishes to your pup. She can't imagine having to stay clam and not being able to run like crazy!

You've made your decision. At this point, your biggest concern should be what happens in the storm's wake, i.e., are you and yours fully prepared to live for 48-96 hours -- or even more, perhaps -- without power and / or water?
