ACLU Sues ICE Over Warrantless Raids in Nashville

"We don't need a warrant, we're ICE" said the officers as they broke down the doors of an apartment in Nashville.

Without a search warrant and without consent, the ICE agents eventually knocked in the front door and shattered a window, shouting racial slurs and storming into the bedrooms, holding guns to their heads. When asked if they had a warrant, one agent reportedly said, "We don't need a warrant, we're ICE," and, gesturing to his genitals, "the warrant is coming out of my balls."

It wasn't just one apartment, but a complex. ICE agents and Metro Nashville police officers are now being sued by the ACLU on behalf of 15 residents, including American citizens and children. [More...]

Moral of the story:

The Fourth Amendment strictly prohibits warrantless intrusions into private homes and the Constitution's protections apply to both citizens and non-citizens alike. In the absence of a judicially authorized warrant, there must be voluntary and knowing consent; ICE officers forcing themselves into someone's home does not constitute consent.

We let LE get this way because this society allowed for it to take place over a 30-40 year period, thanks to the 'anything goes to protect the sainted children from drugs' attitude the right wing fostered and the left cowardly refused to challenge.

You reap what you sow. Sow fascism, and you get fascist behavior like this.

I'm just completely disgusted with what is described as "law enforcement" in this country. The most stuff i read on the web has me completely convinced that just anybody with a badge anymore is a complete scumbag. Try this, go to PoliceOne.com and spend a few minutes reading the comments to almost any story there. These are the people you pay to "protect and serve" you. There's some hand wringing there about a story about nearly 12,000 LEO losing their jobs. I can only say, that's a just start.
