John Lennon would be 70 years old today. A Peace Monument was unveiled today in Liverpool in his honor.

The memories and the music live on.

the whole world misses you, or the whole world worth a damn anyway.

They're screening the documentary of Lennon's NYC years in Central Park tonight...LennonNYC.  Amongst the celebrations around the world.

And of course I'm pushing a diary.

If you would like to see a few photos and some stories from the events that take place at Strawberry Fields in Central Park then check out Remembering John Lennon over at Progressive Blue.

I went today but it was far too crowded to get good photos this time. Far too crowded but still a great time surrounded by others who want to "Give Peace A Chance."

    and I thank you.

My memories today are of 46 years ago, when I saw John Lennon and the rest of the best band ever -- in person, on their first U.S. tour.

But the magical mystery tour continues. . . .

and I can remember riding in the station wagon with my parents to take my sister and her girlfriend to the event.  The place was absolutely packed - I had never seen so many people in my young life!  I love the Beatles and their music.  What would this world have been without them?

...metal ruled the day. Even so, we were all in tears on hearing the news. The only person who didn't seem moved was my redneck history teacher, who said, pfft, John Lennon, he at least lived to be forty, I'll save my sorrow for my buddies blown to bits in Vietnam when they were 19.  Never forget that "at least he lived to be 40" line. Seemed almost logical at the time, 40 seemed ancient to a fourteen year-old kid.  Certainly not anymore.

I am at a loss for word's.  John Lennon's music and his devotion to world peace was so profound. A genius quality that has still not been acknowledged with a celebration' Honoring him, You would think by now somebody would honor him for his devotion for world harmony and the music this man gave to us. I have seen the tribute and celebration for George, by all his friends who loved him. Were are those friends of John's ?
