"Gonzo Way" Wins London Book Festival's Grand Prize

Congrats to Anita! Her book, The Gonzo Way, on her late husband Hunter S. Thompson, has won the Grand Prize at the London Book Festival.

She will accept the award in person on Dec. 18. Background on the book is here.

There's also a very interesting interview with Anita in the Sunday Scotsman Herald, which as a result of the final few paragraphs, has been noted by Esquire, Gawker, Britain's First Post and our local news.

As to Gonzo Way:

“The Gonzo Way: A Celebration of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson” written by his wife, Anita Thompson, is the grand prize winner of the 2008 London Book Festival.

The book, an intimate examination of the motivations and creative process of a man considered one of the great writers and journalists of the last century, reveals that the free-wheeling, drug-ingesting public caricature of Thompson hid a consuming work ethic, an insatiable quest for knowledge and, to be sure, a spiritual commitment to independent thought and action that will long endure.

The work, by Fulcrum Publishing, will be honored on December 18 in London as part of the 2008 London Book Festival awards.

Anita's TalkLeft posts are accessible here. She's busy studying for finals at Columbia and then will be off to London and back to Owl Farm. Again, congrats, Anita!

Anita has been doing so much to tend to Hunter's legacy--and to build one of her own. Damned fine work.
