Obama's Latest Ad: McCain is Out of Time and Ideas

"New Subject" highlights that John McCain is out of ideas, out of touch and running out of time. With no plan to lift our economy up, John McCain is trying to tear Barack Obama down with scare tactics and smears.

    Pretty good ad. Now on balance I think (5.00 / 1) (#3)

McCain has had more effective ads this cycle than Obama imo. But Obama has had the most effective ad this year with the one that began with McCain saying "I'm not Bush" at the debate and ending with VIDEO of McCain saying he voted 90% with Bush, even more than a lot of his Repub allies. Devastating since it strengthens O's messages of change and rejection of GOP policies more than anything else ever could.

that ad is really simple and to the point, but it has stuck with me and many others, it really  stands out.

if McCain is out of time and ideas, but he is probably out of money.  That's what he gets for standing by his campaign promise of taking public financing - that's what he gets for having scruples, I guess.

are you implying somehow that having more than 3 million donors, each of whom gave an average of less than $100, demonstrates a lack of scruples?

Excuse me, but there's more than one way to look at that.  I prefer to look at it as "little people" like me taking back our country, and our political process, from the monied special interests.

i am sure for contributions from the so-called little people but his victory involves a brilliant manipulation of money and advertising at a level never seen before in american politics and w/o which he could not be elected.

let's not kid ourselves about this process by pretending obama is more democratic in his manipulation of the campaign finance system than other candidates. the money in the system is bad for democracy.

remember, obama gets more money from wall st. than mccain.

i wish wall st. were not involved at all.

obama has chosen his buyers wisely and marketed them as small donors even where they are not.

it's a key reason why he is winning. no one can say obama has not run a great campaign.

let's see what he does for the little people, the small donors and more importantly the ones who cannot afford to donate anything at all, once he gets in office.

like getting them some healthcare--that would be a good start.

    Scruples (5.00 / 0) (#10)

Yeah, that's why he took public money-- not because there was no way he'd ever raise that amount of money.  I mean you can tell he has scruples with the generally high-tone his campaign has had this year.

tactic (or is it a strategy?) -- portray your opponent as losing, as "running out of time." Have these kind of ads been prevalent this election cycle? This is the first of its kind in my recollection.
