Obama Fighting Hard For Colorado

The McCain campaign continues to deny reports that it is ceding Colorado to Barack Obama.

"We see the race tightening both internally and in public polling. We are within striking distance in the key battleground states we need to win," said Jill Hazelbaker, the McCain campaign's national communications director.

Gov. Sarah Palin is on to her next stop, leaving Alaska "First Dude" Todd Palin to campaign alone today in Glenwood Springs and Denver.

The Obama campaign, on the other hand, is in full swing. Not only is Sen. Joe Biden here today and tomorrow, but check out the other political magnets holding rallies the next few days .[More...]

Add that to 9 rallies in 7 Colorado cities this Saturday to get out the Hispanic/Latino vote which will be led by Gov. Bill Richardson and others.

If McCain loses in Colorado, I don't see how anyone can say it's because he was at a financial disadvantage. He's running plenty of ads on TV. It seems like he just doesn't have the support of his own party -- leaders who are willing to get out on the campaign trail and stump for him the way Obama does. At least not in Colorado.

How popular is Sen. Salazar in Colorado?

He seems like a nice enough guy whenever he speaks, but when he votes in the Senate, it's a different story.  I hope he helps Obama get the votes, but truthfully, I have been hoping that Colorado would find a more reliable Democratic senator as soon as possible.  I can't even count how many times he's voted with the Republicans.  He's nearly as unreliable as Ben Nelson of Nebraska.

    I'm no fan of his voting either (5.00 / 1) (#2)

and especially his "gang of 14". He's a former state attorney general and not good on crime issues. But he's a centrist, and that makes him popular here. He's also better on issues than his Republican counterpart, Wayne Allard. Happily, Allard is retiring and we are likely to get Mark Udall in his place. At least I hope so.

...100% better than Pete Coors would have been.  I'll take the centrist over the wingnut any old day.

I'll also say that it is more than a hope that Udall will win.  Darn near a certainy at this point.  Not even Caribou Barbie can save that trainwreck of a campaign and candidate that is Bob Schaffer.

The only race I'm hoping about is that Markey can unseat Musgrave.

    Amazing change in many ways. (5.00 / 0) (#4)

    A. Democratic presidential campaign scrambling for 9 electoral votes in CO

    B. The GOP conservative candidate slipping very steadily into the tank

    C. Udall is in control to put another Democratic Party senator in congress

    D. The DNCC is putting cash into Markey's coffers in an effort to take down a 3-term GOP member of the House.

    How sweet it is.

    I miss Co. (none / 0) (#5)

It may be a good time to plan a vacation out there. I hope you go blue this year.
