Wow. I really feel for all those people stuck in the aiport for two days or more. The Denver Airport just announced it won't reopen until noon on Friday.

My blizzard pictures are here. I'm just about to venture out -- on foot. Forget about driving anywhere.

There are lots of people and their dogs in the street, it's still snowing, and I can't open my balcony door so I'm getting a little bit of cabin fever. (Check the difference from when the blizzard was only hours old.)

See you later. I hope to have more pictures upon my return.

Update: I'm back and have updated the pictures with street scenes. I was way overdressed, it's not cold out. The main streets (all the one way streets near downtown, in Uptown and Capitol Hill) are plowed. Lots of people are driving.

The biggest action was at...the liquor store!

i spent two nights sleeping on the floor of dia during the last major blizzard back in --- (hmmm, the memory's going)... anyway, it was the one where pena blvd was so snowed in that even emergency vehicles were having trouble getting through and all the food concessionaires at the airport were running out of eats... i was still working for united at the time so at least my "floor" was in an employee conference room on the mezzanine... nonetheless, it was quite an experience and one i would just as soon not repeat... however, i came damn close, since i flew out of colo. spgs. this past tuesday in what i didn't know at the time was going to be by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin...

And, yes, I DO take it personally

scheduled to fly into DIA Fri. morning. I am sure I will be rescheduled for another city pair instead.

but DIA won't open before noon. So you might try to rebook.

I work in the front of the airplane, Company called we are rescheduled to land DIA at 1300 local.

It snowed a skiff today in Boise, enough to dust the ground real good. All the folks from southern California who moved up here were inching along. Not me, man - me & my Jetta were flying along. We have great tires and airbags. I told someone who was just too overjoyed when it started flaking, 'yeah, I had "Denver envy."

The last time I remember it snowing like that here was 1986.

When we lived in Kentucky, it snowed like that frequently. Snow storms; ice storms. Lightning & thunder storms.

It's fun for a couple of days, but then you start getting antsy.

actually, aurora, colorado, the large white, square suburb (at least it was when i was growing up) directly to the east of denver.

so i know blizzards, and driving in them, quite well.

of course, when i was a kid the airport of note was stapleton, firmly entrenched in metropolitan denver, as opposed to a hunnerd miles out on the prairie where snow drifts up over the control tower, a la dia.

("dia" always sounded to me like a acronym for some terrible war casualty..."died in action" or something)

i am so glad i'm in sunny california. but my heart goes out to my native denver and its inhabitants, it can't be fun!

but at least you'll have a white christmas!

(tho one time growing up in denver, i had a white birthday, and i was born in june!)
